Nearly Paperless Forms

If you’re trying to reduce your paper consumption, you’re probably reading and working on more things online, but it may not always be convenient. If you have checklists or other forms that you use on a regular basis, it can be cumbersome to work with them on your computer, so instead you print off a copy when you need it, or a supply to have on hand. If you need to keep those completed forms on file, that’s all well and good, but how many of those get tossed once you’re finished with them?

Instead of printing, using and then discarding multiple copies of the same item, all you really need is one copy, a plastic sheet protector, and a dry erase marker! Once you’re finished with that checklist or form, simply wipe it off, and it’s ready to use again. You’ll spend less on paper, your recycling bin won’t fill up as quickly, and you’ll save a few trees!

If you have a bunch of forms, you can easily store them neatly in a binder. Otherwise, trim off the edge with the three holes, and your sheet will fit nicely in a standard file folder.

    This is a GREAT idea!
I had my going-to-bed checklist for the baby sitter laminated ($2) and it worked perfectly. I stuck magnetic tape on the back so it stuck to the fridge. It certainly saved time as I didn’t have to write and re-write the same info each time.

Now, why didn’t I think of that!

Another terrific idea and I have all I need already (plastic sheet protector and dry erase marker).

    Thank you Janet!

It’s never too late to implement a great idea.

For clients I would regularly recommend laminated lists to make life easier – especially when it comes to sports equipment and things that need to go to practice and games (like snacks, money, clothes from the laundry, etc…)

Jacki and Alex – you guys are so smart! I learned this trick from one of my clients and it’s been so helpful!

Danielle – sometimes the best solutions are the simplest! :)

Brilliant as always, Janet. More than twenty(mumblemumble) years ago when we went off to college, a friend’s mom attached a laminated laundry instruction checklist to his laundry bag. He’s still using it!

Julie – Laminating is good too, but plastic sheet protectors allow you to easily replace the document when you make changes to it.

LOVE IT!!! I was using the Jot It, but it’s so bulky and doesn’t always work on my desk. I love the idea of the page protectors or even using the presentation folders that has the page protectors sealed into the notebook. ooooh the possibilities!!!!

Suzanne – I can’t believe I taught YOU something (patting myself on the back)!
