Information Diet: Weekly Report

This week I got through all the emails in my “Reading – Fun” and “Reading – Business” folders, and unsubscribed from two more newsletters which I did not ask to receive. Why do some people assume that because you gave them your business card, or emailed them about something or other, that it means you want to receive their newsletter? Do they not realize that it’s very rude, if not illegal?

I also got through all the blog posts in my feed reader, and unsubscribed from a few more blogs. I’m finding it very hard to keep up with MakeUseOf.com because with multiple contributors, there are often several posts every day, and many of them are on gaming, Macs, or other topics that don’t interest me, but those that do are so good that I think I’ll keep that subscription, at least for a while. I am hesitant to only refer to the site when I am looking for information on something specific, because they often write about things I would never have realized even existed.

I even made time to listen to one of the many recorded teleclasses in my collection. It contained a great deal of valuable information, but like many free sessions, it included a pitch for a paid training program, which just fed into my infomania. Realizing that a lot of the materials in my collection will be of this nature, I’ve decided to start a list of the possibilities that interest me, so I can review that list later on, comparing the costs of each program, the time required, and how each one will benefit my business.
