Until yesterday, the only other person I knew of who confessed to being an infomaniac was my fellow VA and blogger Melodee Patterson, so I was pleasantly surprised to read Jackie Nees’ latest blog post, Are You an Infomaniac? Jackie not only admits that she’s an infomaniac, she offers a quiz to help you determine whether you’re one too and, best of all, she offers some great tips on deciding what information to keep, how to store it, and perhaps most importantly, how to use it effectively.
This made me wonder who else is out there, so I entered “infomaniac” into Google Blog Search, and made some other interesting discoveries.
Ellen is an infomaniac who shares the interesting information she finds on her blog, Confessions of an Infomaniac. Incidentally, she’s using the same theme that I chose for OrganizedArticles.com. I realize that’s bound to happen from time to time, but it’s always startling, like seeing someone on the street who is wearing one of your favourite outfits.
I also found bloggers who refer to themselves as infomaniacs, but are addicted to a specific type of information, such as all things Italian or the news.
There is a site called Infomaniac.biz which is devoted to “Useful Information, Interesting Products & Juicy Facts.” If you are or think you might be an infomanic, I suggest that you stay away from that site (yes, Melodee, this means you!). As soon as you arrive, a window pops up offering over 100 free e-books and reports. If you really have time to read that much information, I say “go for it” but don’t say I didn’t warn you!
First Monday published a study last year with the title Infomania: Why we can’t afford to ignore it any longer which provides facts and figures outlining the impact of information overload on productivity. And on that note, I think I should stop researching this topic and get to work!

Hi Janet! Thanks for reading my blog post. I really appreciate it. I’m so glad to know I’m not the only Infomaniac out there!
Great information in this post. I’m looking forward to reading more!
Have a great evening!
Jackie
Jackie, it’s always great to find ‘kindred spirits’
