There was a day when coaching was just for athletes or performers, but now there are coaches for everything: business, career, relationships, even life. It’s no wonder; most of us have so many demands on our time and energy that it’s easy to get overwhelmed if we don’t have someone to guide us along the way.
A coach will help you figure out where you want to be and what is keeping you from being there, and then work with you to develop and implement a strategy to eliminate your obstacles and move towards success. Most coaching is conducted either by telephone or via instant messenger. This not only makes it easier to work into your schedule, because you don’t have to allow for travel time (or “get ready to go out” time), but means that you’re not restricted to working with someone in your local area. If you’re more comfortable meeting face-to-face, you can probably find a coach who works that way, but keep in mind that you may have to pay more for that service.
Group coaching is becoming more and more popular, and also has its benefits. Because the coach is able to assist many clients at the same time, the fees are generally much lower than they are for one-on-one coaching. Furthermore, you have the added support of the other group members. Group coaching is generally conducted via teleclass or webinar, and sometimes includes a members-only website to allow interaction between scheduled sessions.
Coaching helped me to grow Organized Assistant from a part-time side business to a full-time venture. It has also helped me to identify and attract my ideal clients. I’ve been involved in both one-on-one and group coaching, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is having trouble reaching his or her goals, or even determining what those goals are.
Here are some of the excellent coaching programs offered by people in my network.

Have you worked with a coach? Tell us about your experience!

I have used a few coaches over the years and they have all been extremely helpful. Apparently I need a kick in the butt every so often to really get myself moving
One coach is the reason that I’ve been successful at losing 15 pounds lately, while another coach has helped me to get organized and focused so I’ll be able to launch by e-books in a couple of weeks.
I’ve also signed up for CompassMaps (www.mylifecompass.com/CompassMaps.aspx?ID=MKay) which has a monthly series of different topics.
I guess I’m saying I agree with you, Janet! Coaches are great!
Thanks for sharing, Melodee – that looks like another great program, and I will eagerly await news about the launch of your e-books!
One of the reasons I’m here in Europe is because of a coach. He helped me figure out what exactly I wanted – mainly through helping me determine why I had so many blocks on the things I was “supposed” to do to make my organizing business successful. Although at the time I sometimes wondered about the money I was spending, by the end of the process I knew exactly why I’d spent the money.
Alex, I also found that much of the work I did with my coach(es) were steps I knew I needed to take, but the coaching process helped me to understand why those actions were necessary and gave me an accountability partner to make sure I actually took the steps and moved on to the next ones.
Thanks for sharing!
