Plant the Seeds of Greatness

February been has named Plant the Seeds of Greatness Month, a time to make a change for the positive and maximize your effectiveness. What an awesome idea! Instead of a New Year’s Resolution, where you promise to change your life at one specific moment, you devote 28 consecutive days to help make the world a better place.

What exactly is greatness? An audio collection of biographies of The World’s 100 Greatest People includes philosophers, explorers, inventors, scientists, authors, artists, composers, and military, political and religious leaders – individuals whose lives have shaped our world in very significant ways. But not all of us have the ability or personality to have such an impact – does this mean we can’t achieve greatness?

Obviously, “greatness” means different things to different people. Consider this quote:

“Whoever renders service to many puts himself in line
for greatness – great wealth, great return, great satisfaction,
great reputation, and great joy.”

Jim Rohn

According to this, we are all capable of greatness. When we choose to serve others through our work, through volunteering, or even at home with our families, we may not achieve fame and fortune, but there can be countless other rewards.

As founder of the Golden Horseshoe Virtual Assistants Group, I often provide informal mentoring and coaching to members who are just getting started in their VA practices. I don’t make any money doing this, and I certainly won’t get famous for it. It probably won’t even have a huge impact on the world as a whole. But if I can help even one person fulfil his or her dreams, I will experience tremendous satisfaction and joy.

What are you doing to plant the seeds of greatness?
