March is International Ideas Month. Isn’t that exciting? A whole month dedicated to ideas! A time to generate new ideas and, more importantly, to act on those ideas.
Would you like to start a business? This would be a great time to brainstorm some ideas.
Are you bored with your existing business? Think of some ways to make your work more interesting, something new and different to add to your marketing strategies or your services, or maybe even a major change in focus.
Do you need to spice up your life outside of work? Use your imagination and develop a list of activities you might enjoy.
The possibilities are endless! If you’re not feeling terribly creative, why not get together with one or more friends or colleagues? You just never know where one simple idea might lead you…
“Those who are fired with an enthusiastic idea and who allow it to take hold and dominate their thoughts, find that new worlds open for them. As long as enthusiasm holds out, so will new opportunities.”
Norman Vincent Peale

How fun that March is International Ideas Month! Thanks for posting this Janet. I’ve always loved brainstorming ideas… Of course acting on them is a little more time consuming
.
On one of his programs, Earl Nightingale talks about taking time *every morning* to list out all the possible ways you might reach your goal. And, for me, that’s always been the key to successful brainstorming–showing up, repeatedly and often. So, for anyone who thinks, “Oh, I’m no good at that…” it really is a matter of practice.
Jessica, I think we’re total opposites (which makes sense, considering that you’re INFP and I’m ISTJ). I don’t feel I have a lot to contribute to brainstorming sessions, but ask me to carry out those ideas, and I’m on my way!
How appropriate that I’ve started writing my next novel again then. I need lots of ideas for it!
Hi Janet,
It’s nice to see a fellow brainstormer exercising their mind! We many times overlook the fact that simple ideas are the most powerful ones. It’s so easy to start a dialog with ourselves to get the ideas flowing. It has been said that the imagination is the largest nation in the world.
Thanks for sharing!
Ryan
That’s great, Alex! It just amazes me how fiction writers can generate original ideas and put them together into a coherent story
I love that quote, Ryan: “the imagination is the largest nation in the world.” It’s so inspiring! I find my best ideas don’t come to me while I’m brainstorming, but will pop into my head sometime later, and I just know that’s “the one.”

Ideas – I’ve got a million of them! There isn’t enough time in the day to get them all done.
Melodee, I’m impressed with the outcomes I’ve seen of your ideas, and I hope you’re able to find time to carry out more – you’re brilliant!
Thank you, Janet! I didn’t know March is International Ideas Month! Reading your post and learning that gave me permission to ponder and think about things from new perspectives. Since it is still too cold in Minnesota for yard work, this is a great time to think and plan!
Great idea, Barbara! The last stretch of winter seems so long, so passing the time in a pleasurable way helps make it bearable, especially if you’re thinking about future plans!
