How to Stimulate the Economy in 4 Easy Steps

make a referral weekPresident Obama’s economic stimulus package is making big news these days, but marketing expert John Jantsch realizes that small businesses can boost one another during this time of economic uncertainty, simply by making referrals. He has therefore named this week Make a Referral Week. The goal of this event is to generate 1000 referrals for 1000 businesses.

Here’s how you can participate:

  1. Think of one small business owner in your network who could really use some extra business. That should be easy!
  2. Think of someone else in your network who could use that person’s products or services. It has been said that each of us knows at least 200 people, so this shouldn’t be too hard either! If you really can’t think of anyone, go back to step 1 and choose a different business.
  3. Make the introduction.
  4. To make your referral count, enter the details on the Make a Referral Week website.

If you’ve never made a referral or you’re just not sure how to go about it, be sure to read the Make a Referral Week blog for daily education programs focused on teaching small business owners and other marketers how to tap the power of referral marketing, including a live web panel tomorrow with Ivan Misner, Bill Cates and Bob Burg.

Just remember – what goes around comes around. The recipient of your referral may not be in a position to return the favour, but the added income may allow him or her to purchase services from someone else, who in turn will then be able to afford your services.
