It’s taken its sweet time, but it seems like spring has finally arrived. It’s a good thing too, because summer’s just around the corner!
I feel like I’ve been neglecting this poor little blog, and I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been spending so much time away from my desk that I haven’t had a chance to blog, or too much time at my desk working! It could actually be a bit of both.
It’s really been a momentous month in the Barclay family. Just the other day we welcomed these two little guys, our first grandchildren.
If that wasn’t exciting enough, our other son is getting married next week!
I have to say, being a parent (or stepparent) isn’t always easy, but when you see them all grown up and settled into married life and good careers, it’s all worth it.
My reading slowed down a lot when I started reading Bone and Bread. It was okay, but not compelling enough to keep me up late reading, especially since I started waking up crazy early right around the same time, maybe because the sun comes up so much earlier now. As a result, I’m a bit behind on my Reading Challenge, but I’m working on the next one now and will let you know when I’ve finished it.
On one of my Facebook groups, I posted this fun question which has generated some very interesting responses: If a holiday was named in your honour, what would it commemorate, and how would it be celebrated?
How would YOU answer?
Janet Barclay
I eliminate stress for my clients by hosting, monitoring, and maintaining their WordPress sites so they don’t have to worry about security, downtime or performance issues. When I’m away from my desk, I enjoy reading, photography, cooking, watching movies, drinking tea, and spending time with my family.
Congratulations on the momentous events in your family this month. Joyous times!
If a holiday were to be named in my honour, I think it might be called Red Violin Day, to commemorate what are probably my most significant contributions to the field of children’s literature. Everyone would be encouraged to wear red that day, to make music of one kind or another, to take a stand on something they believe in, and to take time to notice something beautiful in their surroundings. And if anyone wanted to watch the movie, The Red Violin, that day, too, that would of course be entirely appropriate.
What about you, Janet? What would YOUR holiday be?
Hey, I’m the one asking the questions around here! But if you insist, my holiday would be Day of the Introvert. No extraverts would be allowed to speak at meetings or other gatherings until the introverts had a chance to voice their opinions – if they wanted to, of course. Those who prefer to just watch and listen would be welcome to do that. For that matter, they could just stay home and read or work quietly at their desk if that’s what they really wanted to do!
The Day of the Introvert sounds like a wonderful day to celebrate, Janet. Let’s set a date! 🙂
